As many of you may know, Halle has faced a number of medical challenges these past several years. More recently, Halle has undergone numerous medical crisises than most face in a lifetime. She has been hospitalized four times in the past six months: required a permanent feeding tube due to a diagnosis of gastroparesis; discovered she has moderate hearing loss requiring hearing aides; identified visual issues due to nerve damage and this past week was diagnosed with severe neuropathy, causing extreme amounts of pain. So much for a 14-year-old girl. With these new obstacles, come numerous medical bills for the Heilmans.
As a friend to the whole family, I see the stress this puts on them, especially leading up to the holiday season. It is in the spirit of giving that I offer this outlet for others to support Halle in her journey. Many have asked Jill what they can do to help Halle and the entire family. I know Jill would never want to ask for financial help again. As you may be aware, some of you supported Halle's fundraiser to get her to New York last year for testing and treament of her dysautonomia. The benefits of that still impact Halle on a daily basis. No one could have predicted the turn her body would take this year.
If you are looking to give to others this Christmas season, consider supporting Halle. This money would go towards paying for her new hearing aides. If any of you know Hal, then you know how much she loves music! She can rock out to just about any song - in fact it is one way she finds comfort during difficult days.
