HLS Takes on Hurricane Harvey

The severity and strength of Hurricane Harvey may have subsided, but the danger, especially for those in the Houston area, is still very real.
This storm is really the worst case scenario for my southern Texas brethern. Not only did a Category 4 hurricane hit the Gulf Coast dead on, but the storm and its massive rainfall will continue to linger over a city that floods rather easily.
Houston, most of which is already underwater, will continue to receive massive rainfall throughout this week. As the recuse and aid effort begins in cities like Rockport and Corpus Christi, one of the nation's most populus cities will continue to have their need for aid rise.
Simply put, a lot of Texans will need a lot of help.
I believe in a couple of things when it comes to donating to aid those in need: a communial effort will bring in more as will tying it to something fun with the effort. With that in mind Loyal Readers, here is what we will do.
This HLS drive will benefit the Amerian Red Cross. In addition, I will make a bonus donation (not HLS, this is coming out of my pocket) in proportion to both the total amount we raise and how well Notre Dame does this weekend against Temple.
The bonus donation will be 1% of the total raised, multiplied by the amount of points Notre Dame will score on Saturday. To put it another way, every $100 dollars raised will equal $1 per Irish point this weekend out my pocket. I'm going to set a maximum of $500 for myself because, while I know the generousity of the ND family knows no bounds, my wallet does.
The total for the bonus will be tallied at kickoff, but we will run the drive until Sunday.
Now, if you'd rather make a donation directly to either the Red Cross or another organization, please do so! In fact, here are some good ideas to donate your money, time, blood, and other goods. The bottom line is that you help in any way, shape, or form that you can.
Let's show Houston just what this little segment of the ND Family can do.
