Hello, my name is Julie. I am reaching out to ask for your help and prayers for a special family member. Please consider a donation of any size to help my aunt and uncle, The Sakolevidis famiy, cover current and future medical expenses for their 10 year old son. Our fun loving, hyperactive, joke telling seemingly healthy 10 year old little Landy R suddenly started having extremely bad bright red bloody stools and vomiting overnight. After many and different types of tests and doctor visits, with many uncertain answers as to what this might be, he had an EGD and colonoscopy with a preliminary diagnosis of severe ulcerative colitis or crohns disease on Tuesday. Thursday, when home care management wasn't working, he ended up in the emergency room at Medical City Children's. He has been admitted into the hospital and final pathology results confirmed the diagnosis of SEVERE Ulcerative Colitis. His treatment will require an IV prescription called Remicade which will be administered once a week for the first several weeks followed by once every 8 weeks for the rest of his life (at a minimum through puberty to prevent growth prevention and this is IF the medication is effective for his disease). The family is still uncertain as to what insurance will pay. However, these IV drugs range in cost from $15K - $20K and along with many ancillary fees, an emergency visit and days in the hospital, there is no telling how much my precious Sakolevidis family will be indebted after all is said and done.
