Kris Porter's battle with cancer began a few years back, it started with cervical cancer. Unfortunately this is her second round with it and though she fought hard the first round it came back and has spread to other parts of her body.
As a lot of you might know or have exepreinced, our health care system is quite flawed at the moment leaving many with out enough resources to address their ailments and heal. Cancer is not free and eventually you run out of paid leave or disability doesn't quite cut it. Imagine the financial stress while feeling sick everyday from chemo and just trying to get better. The scenario is insurmountable.
Kris is is a mother, a grandmother, a great friend to many, and if you are fortunate enough to know her you know how much she takes care of people and selflessly puts everyone she loves first. If you really, really know Kris you also know how hard she works, she is always running around helping people and going to work at one of her many jobs.
She is still working over full time, while going to chemo, just keep her rent and bills paid. Chemo is not easy on the body and leaves the patient feeling very ill, since this is her second bout with cancer she has exausted many of the programs, such as sick leave, that allow a person to take time to rest and get better. She is a strong woman but even wonder woman needs to rest.
We are hoping to raise some funds for her upcoming surgery on Oct 23 so that she can take some time off to heal, avoid infection, alleviate some medical bills, and ultimately win this battle. She is our family and we love her dearly and want desperately for her to survive cancer and live a long healthy life. This is how we can give back to her so if you can find anything to give, it helps, no amount is too small and is forever appreciated.
