Hi Everyone,
This is an urgent appeal for my cousin Patrick Ikebeli
He was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis in April 2015. This is a rare chronic liver disease in which the bile ducts inside and outside the liver progressively decrease in size due to inflammation and scarring (fibrosis). Patrick's diagnosis is in the last stages and needs urgent financial support in order to seek the right medical help. It is known that Patrick's bile ducts; the tubes which carry bile; a greenish yellow liquid made by the liver into the upper part of the bowel has been severely affected. Bile acts as a detergent breaking up the fat from the food we eat into small droplets that can then be absorbed into the body. As a result Patrick cannot eat anything solid and even liquid foods are difficult to settle. This also has significant impact in his ability to take in his medication which makes the situation even worse.
The blockage to his bile flow has caused severe damage to his liver cells causing inflammation and scarring.
Patrick is in excruciating pain from his abdomen, itching, jaundice, constant fever. He is only surviving on smaller intake of liquid beverage.
Patrick's situation has affected his ability to work and live a life of normalcy. His only hope of survival is a liver transplant and due to financial constraints Patrick has been discharged home.
In order for the liver transplant to happen; pre-surgery and post surgery, the doctors say it will cost 20 Million Naira (£46,000).
Patrick's family have done all they can to support him but needs further help to raise the significant amount needed. They have exhausted all available funds on various laboratory tests and medications such as livolin forte and ursodeoxycholic acid 250mg which only bring medical relief .
Patrick is the eldest of his siblings and has been out of his job for several years as he suffered from early symptoms of the disease which remained undiscovered until April 2015. Both his parents are retired from employment and they rely on his younger siblings with little salaries for temporary medications.
Please, we need your urgent support to help our brother. He can only live with a transplant and every penny donated will go towards getting him one.

I started this campaign to help raise funds for Patrick's treatment in Nigeria after I saw my once vibrant and energetic cousin wasting away because of this disease.
