A Summer to Remember

Nothing can ever prepare yourself for the words "You have cancer"

At the end of March this year my wife was diagnosed with an advanced cervical cancer. As such, our lives have been turned completely upside down as all of our focus has turned from simple day to day joys to fighting for survival.

This call for help is for my kids. They've been extraordinary human beings throughout this process. My 12 year old daughter had to grow up 10 years overnight and has been unbelievable in her resolve supporting everyone in our household during this difficult time. My 9 year old son has been so strong and selfless that at times I'm amazed at how mature and compassionate he has become. My best friend succumbed to Leukemia 3 years ago and my kids witnessed that and stood by my friend with me through his treatments and inevitable palliative care. To think that they can be so strong now despite what they've been exposed to already is nothing short of remarkable.

The summer has always been a time where as a family we pool our money together and enjoy things like camping and road trips. With the sudden loss of income and my wife's reduced constitution, those things are not going to be possible this year and that breaks my heart.

I'd like to give my kids a summer to remember. A trip to Canada's Wonderland maybe? Perhaps a really fun summer camp? Some boating and swimming at a cottage rental? I don't want cancer to put a dent in their summer and I'm asking for assistance to help out with that.

Thank you for taking the time to read this; hopefully this little dream of mine will come true too.
