<div>Den ellevte december 2023 blev io Hulten (Krista Bella) dømt ved Lyngby ret. Hun mistede retten til at praktisere som jordemoder og blev pålagt en bøde på 20.000 kroner. Sagen er anket til Østrelandsret hvor den kører 1-3 september 2025.

<div>Dommen faldt, fordi io Hulten som privatpraktiserende jordemoder havde assisteret ved en hjemmefødsel, som foregik imod lægens anbefalinger. Den fødende havde før født ved kejsersnit og var så traumatiseret af oplevelsen, at hun ikke ønskede at føde på et hospital. Fødslen gik godt og moderen vidnede til fordel for io hulten.

<div>Dommen er både en trussel mod de privatpraktiserende jordemødres ret til at praktisere og de fødende kvinders ret til at vælge og fravælge behandling på trods af sundhedsmyndighedernes anbefaling. Det er et spørgsmål om menneskerettigheder og io Hulten har derfor valgt at anke dommen til landsretten, og gå hele vejen til menneskerettighedsdomstolen.
