My Mother's Home

in 1995 my mom put all her life's savings into a down payment for a house...about $2,000. she worked her hands to the bone to be able to save that money and give my brother and I a place we could call our own.  although small and humble, my mother eventually turned that house into a home.

she worked every day of her life to make her mortgage payments till the sickness no longer allowed her to. even then, with her small social security earnings, she managed to make her payments every month. many memories were shared there...good and bad. my nephew and two nieces were born and raised in this home. it is where my mother took her last breath surrounded by her family. and now, on the verge of losing our home, I swallow my pride and ask for help.

my mom was under the impression she had mortgage protection but alas, she did not, of which I found out till after her passing. something this big bank conveniently forgot to mention, as they do, when my mom and I tried to square away her finances over a year ago.

my brother had attempted to take over the payments but was not allowed to due to not having an assigned executor/representative to take over her estate. now we must go to probate court and attempt to fight for the house my mother worked so hard to keep.

$3,000 is for the lawyer which includes his fee plus court costs.
$2000 is to actually catch up on payments missed since my mom's passing in August.

I've never done something like this before but I've reached a dead end and I must honor my mother's wishes by at least trying, otherwise I wouldn't be able to live with myself.  thank you for taking the time to read our story. as my mom always said, God is good.
