My name is Pam and I’ve been in the hotel business for 35 years. In June of 2019 I branched out on my own and purchased a 21 room TX registered historical landmark boutique hotel that was 100 years old. I knew I had a lot of repair and restoration work ahead of me, but knew that I and my team could do it as long as we kept guests coming. Eight (8) months later…along comes COVID. We had more than $200,000 of booked revenue cancel and yet our expenses weren’t going down.
We made it through the last 3 years by the skin of our teeth…I ended up using all my cash reserves paying the basic bills, I invested into the property- kept renovating and even replaced all of the kitchen equipment so we could open a bar/restaurant on property about 4 years before we had originally planned so we had another revenue source
Since purchasing the Inn, we opened our doors to the community for every disaster big or small. We offered free shelter to 228 people during the Feb freeze of 2021 and helped 20 houses get fixed by paying for the plumbing supplies or workers needed to get people back in their homes. We have offered people in need a hot meal, warm shower, or a roof over their head for a night when they were desperate. During the largest wildfire in TX in July & August of 2022 we took in evacuees again free of charge.
Now it is December of 2022, and we had one 120 gallon tank of a 2 tank hot water system break down and leak from the 2nd floor to the first. Our first quote for the repair and replacement is $10,000. We are working on more quotes and other options, but without replacing it I am worried guests will not have hot showers all the time.
Now I am at the end of my cash reserves and I am asking for help. Please help me keep Inn on the River providing shelter to guests and anyone else in need of relaxation and respite for years to come.
