Hip Replacement for young German Shepherd Kai
Donation protected
About two years ago we were walking back from the park where we played a good game of fetch with our two dogs. I noticed Hezekiah (Kai) limping, and thought maybe he had over-strained himself sprinting after the ball. We let him rest and I noticed it again and again over the course of the next several weeks. We stopped high-intensity exercises and kept our jogs short. Back in July, days after our other dog passed away, Hezekiah was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and arthritis in his left hip, a diagnosis we had feared but anticipated. Our incredible veterinary office informed us of the bad news but told us that Kai would be an excellent candidate for hip replacement surgery.
Being so young, the risk of surgery is much lower and this would increase his comfort ability and living conditions for many years and he could return to some low intensity games of fetch. It upsets us to see him limping after activities he enjoys like fetch or hikes. It breaks our hearts when he groans or yelps just getting off the bed or couch. Anyone who knows me knows how much Kai is a part of the family, and they also know how I hate asking for help. But $6,000 for the surgery, pain management and any post-surgery expenses won’t be possible for us for a long time. I’m swallowing my pride for Hezekiah’s sake. I’d appreciate your donation and kindness of sharing on social media.
