Hinkson's Carding Mill

Donation protected
Hinkson's Carding Mill is a rare reminder of the rural industrial economy in New Hampshire. Built in 1823 and in operation through the 1920s, this timber frame building somehow survived the freshets, ice jams, and neglect that took out most of its peers.

After nearly one decade of rehabilitation (including site work, structural improvements, and reconstruction of the turbine shed), the mill is ready for its next phase: exterior restoration.

Only $4,000 remains to be raised; $44,000 has already been raised/pledged! This phase will include installing new sheathing, clapboards, and custom windows. The result will button up the building and return the mill to its 1800s appearance.

Once complete, the mill building will hopefully serve as an economic catalyst for East Grafton. Potential and targeted reuses include a cider mill, brewery, architectural salvage business, or artist studios.

As a thank you for your contribution, I want to offer the following goodies:

$25 - handwritten thank you card featuring original artwork by the talented Abbie Gerringer.
$50 - thank you card AND a limited print of Abbie's artwork (8"x10")
$100 - all of the above, plus a Race to Save the Mill tee shirt (either a past year or this upcoming year)
$250 - all of the above, plus a framed print of Abbie's work (made from carding mill wood!)
$500 - all of the above, plus a guided tour of East Grafton (hosted by yours truly) with thank you drinks on my front porch.
$1,000 - all of the above and my eternal gratitude. Let's talk.
