<div>Hi, I’m Ferry. Preparing for a multi-day hike, I couldn’t find a power bank I could rely on. Most drain in your bag, waste energy, and give up in the cold or heat. On the trail, your phone is your map, camera and emergency line.
</div>
<div>So I’m building my own: HikingPower.
</div>
<div>Holds its charge: less than 2% loss per month in your bag (goal)
</div>
<div>Wastes less energy: more of the battery goes to your phone
</div>
<div>Built for cold and heat: insulated, with a heater so it still charges when freezing
</div>
<div>Waterproof: IP67, sealed ports, no flaps
</div>
<div>Light: about 270 g, 10,000 mAh, around two full phone charges
</div>
<div>Why €6,000?
</div>
<div>For the first prototypes: an engineer’s safety check, parts for 10 prototypes, a test round with hikers, and an improved second version. Anything extra goes toward safety certification.
</div>
<div>The images show an impression and all numbers are design goals. I’ll test every claim and share the results here, good or bad.
