Highs Broken Leg

Donation protected
My support dog has been hurt, hit by a car that did not stop, her leg is broken and I cannot afford to get vet help.

I am a 66 year old disabled veteran, I served my country for over 20 years and due to injuries received while active duty, I retired after Desert Storm and Desert Shield, I entered the military as a teenager during  the Viet Nam war in 1971 and was retired in 1992.  I suffered from PTSD, nerve damage in my back and legs, and hearing loss and was recommended to get a service dog to help me.

I found High, a beautiful German Shepard, she was a rescue from the ASPCA, and has been a tremendous help to me.  I think it was her, High, that rescued me actually.  Since adopting High, my whole life has changed for the better.

My wife has actually commented that the nightmares and bad dreams I used to have has decreased, she tells me that she gets better sleep also since I have been able to calm down.  Petting High and being able to walk her has changed my life for the better.  She recognizes my mood changes and comforts me, she notices when I get anxious or aggravated she nuzzles me and listens to me...  I love my dog, and she is an active part of my family.

Since I am retired I cannot earn extra money by putting in overtime, I need help.  I have never had to ask for help before and although I am embarrassed to ask, I need to get surgery for High to repair both bones above the wrist so she will not be crippled for the rest of her life.

All funds will be used for Highs medical needs, I am asking for nothing for me and only for my dog.  Any funds not used for the immediate care and aid for High will be returned or donated to the local ASPCA.

High has increased my quality of life, and helped me to love life again.  She goes everywhere I go, never complains about me talking too much or telling stories about overseas assignments or my complaints when I hurt.  She greets me every day with a happy demeanor, and although she is hurt right now, she lays at my feet and gives me comfort...

High needs surgery as soon as possible to repair the bones in her leg and prevent her from being crippled for life (or me having to put her down).  I love her too much to put her to sleep, she is only 3-4 years old, and is a part of the family.  The quote for her care given to me by Mercy Pet Care was a little over $3200.00 for surgery.  I need High, and would be forever grateful for your help to keep her next to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, may God bless you and comfort you also... in your times of need.
