Josh (father of 2) was returning home early Sunday morning when he looked up into his review mirror and saw headlights barreling towards him. Josh is on I-205 headed north to I-84 so that he can return home to Troutdale. The SUV he sees in the review mirror is going more than 120 mph. His Mini Cooper is hit from behind, and Josh is sent into the divider. Josh and his car are rolled six times to end up sitting nose up car impaled by rebar in a construction zone.
Josh has no idea how long he was unconscious. When he comes to, he sees police lights in the distance. Josh screams for help, but due to the distance and a collapsed lung, he goes unheard. Badly injured, bleeding and covered in gasoline, Josh somehow pulls himself out of the vehicle and walks towards the flashing lights of the cop car.
The Police Officer on the scene is investigating the SUV that hit Josh and doesn't know another vehicle was involved. The SUV has no plates, and the driver is missing. Josh is briefly questioned before the Police Officer realizes that Josh is severely injured and is asked to sit down. At this point, Josh collapses, and the police officer calls an ambulance.
Josh is rushed to the hospital and survives the night. Multiple injuries are cataloged, including a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), a collapsed lung, a partially severed ear, facial fractures, spinal fractures, Chemical burns, broken ribs, and many other issues. He spent three days in the hospital and has been released. He requires substantial help to do tasks we all take for granted daily.
Expenses that would typically be taken care of by the SUV's driver and their insurance can't be as they fled the scene, and there has been no update from Portland Police on the investigation or even if one is taking place. We will update you below as information becomes available.
Please share this and donate if you can. It's currently unclear when or if Josh will be able to return to work. Josh has always been a hard worker and is too proud to ask for help. So on behalf of his family and friends, Please share and donate.
