High Speed Chase Leaves Wichita Couple Homeless

Donation protected

You may have seen the recent news coverage of the high speed chase ending on the corner of Meridian and Irving in Wichita Kansas. Pictures of an upside-down SUV plowing through a black and white house were all over. What the original news story didn't tell you is what happened to the couple living in that house. With the utilities shut off and the house deemed uninhabitable, Tracy and Tony have found themselves not only homeless, but any damage to their personal furniture and property is considered a total loss. Tracy who was home during the incident landed in the back room after being thrown from her wheelchair during the impact. Thankfully she seems to have escaped the incident a little sore with only a few minor bumps and bruises. A few days ago, they found out that the SUV involved was stolen, making the vehicle owner yet another victim and therefore the auto insurance not liable for any of the damage to the property. Damage to the home itself is covered by the home owners insurance policy, but because they are renting to own the property Tracy and Tony are still considered tenants. Meaning couple is left footing the bill for their temporary housing and any damage to their personal property. Complicating matters further, the couple has less then a week to remove any remaining property from the home while it is being repaired. The couple live on a fixed income and have no idea how they will be able to afford any additional expenses. Tracy is on disability and Tony helps to supplement their income by working as a handy man. With help from the Red Cross, Tracy has been able to purchase a new transport chair (replacing the one she was thrown from) and has been able to pay for a hotel room through tonight (Sept. 4, 2021), but so far that is the only help they have been able to secure. Tracy has reached out to every charity organization she has been able to get in contact with and has yet to secure any additional help. Please help this couple get back on their feet! Anything donated will go towards providing handicap accessible temporary housing, moving help, and replacing any damaged personal property. Any money raised above and beyond that will go towards improving their Meridian home and making it more wheelchair friendly. We know that in the wake of the pandemic, a lot of people are struggling so Tracy and Tony want to thank everyone in advance for any help you can provide whether it's donations, well wishes, prayers, or helping this story get exposure by sharing on social media. Stay safe everyone God Bless!
