Helping Hands for Tracy's Fight

(**We're missing a few family members due to country wide distance circumstances.)

Hello! I'd like you to meet my amazingly, strong Mama, Tracy Rasmussen (Waldo)! (And according to my kids, "the Best Mimi Ever!") She's an understanding, spirited, caring, and fierce woman, friend, aunt, wife, mother and Mimi. At 47 years young, she's married to my dad, Scott Rasmussen, celebrating 20 years at the beginning of the year. They share 5 children, and 9 beautiful grandchildren.

On July 13, 2017, our worst nightmare came true. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

While volunteering, for her 3rd year, as a counselor for a week long summer camp with foster children, she awoke at 4am with a pain, that presented as upper abdominal pain. After a hospital stay in February for Pancreatitis, she knew it could get a lot worse, very quickly, and decided a trip to the ER was in her best interest. She was admitted Tuesday morning, for an emergency surgery to place a stent in the duct of the head of the pancreas later that day. While doing so, they found about a 2cm tumor and biopsied it. She was given a full diagnosis Thursday morning of Adenocarcinoma Pancreatic Cancer, shortly before releasing her from the hospital. Today, a week later and she's had her first appointment. While there wasn't much information learned in what our future steps are, we did find out she's in the 3% of patients that actually catch it early!!!! She was referred to the highly recommended Dr. Bilimoria in Arlington Heights, and we are currently awaiting their call with the next appointment. Due to this being such a quickly progressing type of cancer, treatment will be aggressive, and we are eagerly awaiting our battle plans!

Unfortunately, the medical bills (with a moderately high deductible), the prescriptions, and the everyday costs (ride sharing/gas, on an about-to-kick-the-bucket-car), (Sorry, Ma! But you know that thing worries me! ) a special diet, and kitchen items for making the things in her new diet, things are already adding up. And we know it's only going to get more intense as we fight along side her!

But the financial burden has already begun to impose, which has led me here; To our family and friends: and maybe even your family and friends, and beyond. - To ask for help in giving our Mom some financial piece of mind. That way she doesn't have to worry about how she's going to pay for the prescription in 4 weeks when every penny has been spent on co-pays, or truly who knows what else could lay ahead for us.

There will be a Facebook page up and running very shortly, as it becomes open, I will update with a link if you'd like Follow Her Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer. If you are able to donate, thank you!! Your help is insanely appreciated. And if you can't right now, I get it! That's why I'm here, but if you've got a second, please share. There maybe someone you know that can and that's just as good! Every little bit helps! Thank you, Thank you!

Thank You All, for this moment of your time! May your day be filled with joy and love!
