HGE Fight for MissJiff

Donation protected
We currently live in southeastern Louisiana, a far cry from our beloved state of NC. We have relocated due to my husband having orders here with the Marine Corps. With that being said we had to leave behind our go to veterinarian. Which now we need more then ever. Our 8 year old basset hound was taken to the emergency vet approximately a month ago. They noted she had signs of HGE so they gave her a shot of fluids in the back and antibiotics to go home with. The vet advised us it could take weeks to turn around but she didn’t appear to need any other treatment. Yesterday we made the call to take Miff Jiff to the regular vet. This is where we were told that she had lost a significant amount of weight, her red blood cells were in the low 20’s so she is anemic. Also that her white blood cell count was through the roof, per the vet. Her body’s it trying to fight off an infection from the HGE not properly being treated the first time to the vet. I was told that what we should have been advised to do was hospitalize her last time, but different vet different outcome.
So now here we are needing to make a decision on our beloved pet. The vet said cost per night in the hospital is roughly $200-$250 per night with out anything additional like the heavy antibiotics or additional test they need to run.
During this past year we’ve had to other expenses come up with we have needed to go into our savings which has also been set aside for emergencies. Right now I have been working Saturday’s and saving any money from bonus to go into our savings for my maternity leave. I am due December 19th. So all additional money has been going into savings for that.
We have MissJiff a sponsorship for the first two nights. We just can’t go into the maternity funds due to not being able to replenish it enough in time for our new baby.
We greatly appreciate anyone who could help MissJiff keep fighting this HGE illness.
