HFKLA 2017

Hello everyone,

I got accepted to participate in a program called "Hope for Kids Leadership Academy", which will, in August 2017, be based at Camp Hope for Kids in Schwenksville, PA. The program will be 5 weeks in length. During the 5 weeks, I will receive training in evangelism, leading bible discussions and bible studies on local campuses, attend a Ministry Training Academy, be a mentor for a child from the inner city of Philadelphia and be a Counselor and/or Crew for at least one week of Teen camp.


As a faith-based program, HFKLA is a spiritually focused program. There will be times of prayer, bible based devotionals and lessons and participants will attend worship services with members of the local Church of Christ. 


When hearing about Hope for Kids Leadership Academy, I instantly saw it as an opportunity to grow in my faith in many ways such as in my character, confidence, ability to lead efficiently and be effective in my outreach. This will give me a greater chance to help out with my own church. Even within my own teen ministry here in Oslo, Norway I have found myself wanting to help in its growth and unification in whatever way possible! The problem that I have faced with this is that I have never really had the opportunity to learn how to do all of this sufficiently and really see HFKLA as an amazing chance to learn different techniques and skills that I could use.



Moreover, I genuinely feel the need to grow in my patience towards others, develop my ability to be empathetic and loving to those around me and really just serve in any way I can! I also see myself as very strongwilled, easily positive and would love to use those abilities in making the summer as enjoyable and memorable as possible to the kids that I meet, whilst also continuing to further my own study of english by being around english speakers.


This will be my first volunteer work on my own and I am excited to see where God takes me! I think it will be the push that I need to change myself and hopefully my environment as well!


 
So now, what do I need the Money for?

I need the money for the flight to Philadelphia from Oslo that costs 1000$. 
The program costs 1500$, which I have been granted a scholarship for, so  the only money I need is for the flight tickets.
