OUR STORY
Hello loved ones.
As you all know Yunior and I have been dealing with the hardships of immigration after Yunior was subjected to an expedited removal, not allowed through customs, and sent back to Cuba on October 4th, 2017. It was a very harsh determination to what was essentially an accident. We both thought because he was let into the country, and that he was staying less than the max of 180 days, that his existing itinerary was approved. We were wrong.
I hired an attorney whose first attempt was to try to get the removal rescinded. In November we found out that that request was denied. That attempt drained us financially, costing $3,000. With the current expedited removal and cancelled visa Yunior cannot reenter the US for 5 years.
I have new representation now and am confident in her 10+ years of experience and her advice. She has experience with cases involving Cuban nationals, which is very helpful. She is also a friend, of a friend of Yunior's, so she cares about his case.
I am working with the attorney to file for a new fiance visa that would allow him to enter the country so we can marry. This is necessary since I cannot fly to Cuba, or any other destination wedding location, because they all have Zika. The attorney would also file a waiver that would allow him to enter the country after the visa is approved.
Our hope is to expedite these processes and get him home to Minneapolis. Our priority is to reunite our family and get him to our little baby boy as young as possible.
The fiance visa process is the shortest option at this point. It would take approx 4 months to process. We are confident we have a good case for both the waiver and the visa application. However, this process is very expensive.
The legal fees for the fiance visa, 212 waiver and green card application will total - $5,000.
Filing fee for 212 waiver - $930
Filing fee for Visa - $535
Our attorney is allowing me to pay her in installments but with a baby on the way the expense is overwhelming for us.
We know this is a huge request, and you all know I am very uncomfortable asking for help, especially financial help. But we both have to put the health of our family as a whole first and expand our capacity to accept love and assistance from those who care about us.
