To the friends and family of the much-loved Herrin George Larkan. Please help us come together and show love and support to the grieving family of a man taken all too soon.
Herrin was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle and mate to many people and had a great impact on everybody who knew him.
Herrin died very suddenly on May 20 of a heart attack, one month after his 47th birthday. He was fit and healthy and we are all devastated and in shock. Our hearts are shattered beyond belief.
Herrin loved and cherished his family and friends and absolutely lived for his boys, Jasper and Cohen. He was a wonderful stepdad to Leigh's son Jasper, who he took care of from the age of three to 14 and loved like his own son. Herrin's six-year-old son Cohen was the absolute light of his life. The boys are absolutely gutted, as are his beloved wife Leigh, mother Faye, brother Jai, sister Wendy and all his family and many friends.
Herrin was a talented musician with a beautiful voice. His compositions touched many people and it was his dream to one day make a full-time living from music. That dream has been cut short, but his music and his beautiful spirit will live on in our hearts. You can hear some of his music here on his website and here on YouTube.
Herrin was strong-minded, funny, intelligent and loved a good argument. He was also the kindest, most caring person you could ever meet. As an artist working hard to achieve success in the music world, he did not have a lot of money, but would have given the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He gave generously of his time and energy. He never stopped trying to help people, wherever he thought it was needed.
Herrin never had the opportunity to leave Australia, having lived on the Sunshine Coast his entire life. In his final days, he was planning a trip to New Zealand with Leigh and the boys after Covid-19, which would have been his first overseas trip. The last piece of music he produced was an 18-minute soundtrack to a New Zealand landscape video, which you can listen to here . He worked on it for five months and was very proud of it.
We are all so proud of Herrin, of the person he was and the joy, fun, light, love and creativity he brought to our lives. We will love him and miss him forever.
