Our dear Lisa Heroux, who is my oldest sister, had a severe stroke on June 22, 2017 during a community event in our hometown, Winter Park, CO where we all live. Lisa is the wife to her devoted high-school sweetheart of 29 years, mother of their three handsome boys who are 28, 19 and 13-year-old and the oldest sister of four girls.
She was airlifted to St. Anthony's Hospital where she underwent brain surgery to remove a blood clot due to high blood pressure. The clot was removed successfully. However, during her recovery in the hospital, she had multiple strokes in BOTH hemispheres of her brain, plus her cerebellum and the cortex that affected her more severely and resulted in major setbacks of healing.
After being in the hospital for roughly three months, she has finally returned home in Grand County. Sadly, Lisa is paralyzed on her right side, VERY limited speech and has constant pain from muscle atrophy.
Now living at home in our rural community at 9,000 feet, we have learned there are very limited services up here to help with the needs of now, a disabled person who needs 24-hour care.
Not only, does Lisa need 30 hours of home care from and vigorous therapy, the family needs a vehicle to help transfer a person in a wheelchair, safely.
I have created this GoFundMe page for my family to raise money for the following: it will help immediately pay for therapists and a caregiver to help with the care needed for Lisa. Money will also help to purchase a handicap accessible vehicle and snow tires for this winter that will work in the icy, cold, snowy winters of the Colorado mountains. Winter is right, around, the corner.
Plus, funds will also help with medical bills, mortgage payments and so forth. As of now, Thad, her husband, is the primary caretaker of Lisa, their 13-year-old son and he is the primary breadwinner of the affected family. The burdened is real.
