Heros For Doug

Doug Holden is a Greater Naples Firefighter/Paramedic. He is in need of a kidney transplant. When Doug was younger, his kidneys shut down. He contracted an infection (most likely strep) which got into his blood stream and shut down his kidneys. After 3 years of dialysis, he received a living donor kidney from his father. Now, 17 years later, his body has identified his dads kidney as foreign and is starting to reject. We have started he process of looking for a living donor for him. Although insurance will help with medical expenses, there are still a lot more expenses required. And through most of this, both Doug and his girlfriend/primary caregiver, Kristina, will not be able to work. Those who know Doug love him. They get emotional when talking about his current circumstances. For those who don’t know Doug, he is a fun loving, adventurous, amazing person. Growing up he was a Boy Scout turned Eagle Scout. He started his career in Forestry and was a volunteer firefighter until he became a full time Firefighter at Greater Naples Fire Rescue. He has been there for five years. He is also a paramedic. He runs in to situations where most people run out. He is a hero for the community. Now we are asking the community to be a hero for Doug.
