Heroic, Living Kidney Donor

When you think of a hero, often times you think of someone saving the life/s of others from tragic events of life. When I hear the word hero, I now think of my brother. The one who will be giving a piece of his life to better the life of a beautiful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and auntie. That is our Aunt Iris! Auntie Iris has battled with her health for many years and ended up receiving the troubling prognosis from the doctors, that she would need a kidney transplant to save her life, and this needed to happen QUICKLY. After many failed attempts with donors, hopeless days/nights and pure exhaustion from her deteriorating health, my brother Devin made the courageous decision to go through the process of finding out if he was a match for our aunt.
Though the process was strenuous and overwhelming, he remained committed and never lost sight of his purpose in this process, which was to be the person to save the life of someone who is so deserving of living a happy and healthy life. After many hours of fasting and testing, Devin received the news that he was a positive match for our Aunt Iris and that they were ready to move forward with the process. At that moment, Devin was well on his way to becoming a living donor and a hero to our family!
Auntie Iris we love you and know that you deserve the world! God has aligned for you to have a new lease on life and is making sure that you are able to live it more abundantly. For this, we are forever grateful! To Devin, brother thank you for being our hero and angel through these trying times. I know that Nan’s heart is full of joy and gratitude for the heroic decision that you have made to save the life of Auntie Iris!
Devin has made this decision knowing that he will only receive pay from his job for half of the time that he will need off to recover. For the remaining time off, he will have to take it as unpaid leave. We are asking everyone’s help to cover expenses for Devin during this time. We want this to be one less thing that they have to worry about during this process. No gift is too small nor will it go unnoticed. We thank everyone in advance for his or her contributions!
