Hello, my name is Dorothy and I am fundraising for my little Yorkie named Macy and my daughter. My 10 yr old daughter was out walking our dog when a coyote chased them both down the street. My dog was trying to protect my daughter who was yelling and screaming and Macy end up getting brutally mauled by this coyote on our neighbour's front yard. She received extensive injuries to her body and leg. She is undergoing surgery for her wounds at the emergency animal hospital. My heart is breaking for both my little one and our dog whom we rescued 5 years ago. I'm a single mom of two and my children and our dog mean everything to me. They are my life.

I have called animal services, 311 and MNR about this attack and they basically told me their hands are tied. All they can do is "educate" homeowners. I've also reached out to 680 news with the video of the attack. It is very difficult to watch but it shows you just how brave our little dog was despite her injuries. She did her best to chase the coyote away from my daughter and protect her. 
















 








Donations raised will go to help with Macy’s emergency vet bill as well as ongoing care for her injuries and any tests and treatments she may require. Macy has stage III luxating patella which has been aggravated by surgery from her bite wounds. She will eventually require surgery for both knees. She also has a collapsing trachea which is something common in yorkies.  

 

As an independent contractor for Cornershop, your donations have also allowed me to stay home to give around the clock care to Macy while she recovers. I am eternally grateful that the financial stress has been lifted and I can concentrate on helping my daughter and Macy heal.
