Hernandez Family Recovery Fund

On Labor Day, my cousin's 2nd story apartment caught fire while her husband was at the store. My cousin (who is in her first trimester), their teenage daughter and their 2 1/2 year old daughter were home when the fire broke out. The fire swept through the apartment so quickly that the 3 of them were forced to jump through the window to escape.

They have lost everything, and their home is destroyed, as are all of their posessions. They've been left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. In addition, my cousin has a broken right arm, tore the tendons in her left ankle, and is fairly well cut up from the fall. Fortunately, it seems the baby she's carrying is alright.  Their elder daughter got some cuts and bruises in the fall, and is uderstandably traumatized.

The managers of the apartment complex knew of the electrical issue which caused the fire before hand, failed to fix it, and this has been the outcome. They are refusing to assist any of the displaced families.
