Hermes Family Help

An expression that is not used very much anymore is “salt of the earth people”.   It means fundamental goodness, reliable, trustworthy, and straightforward.  Jay and Heather Hermes are the perfect definition of salt of the earth people.  They own two business, Clean n Green Environmentally Conscious Cleaning service and Hermes Popcorn.  These are two family owned business that they operate with their four children; Liam, Grace, Aiden, and Olivia.  As a troop of 6, they have built these businesses into strong forces in the communities they serve.

On the evening of June 7, Aiden was working with the family selling popcorn.  He fell and suffered a horrible accident, cutting his eyeball.

He was rushed to UW-Madison Children’s Hospital for surgery.  He has lost the lens the left in his eye, the retina is detached.  He will have to many more surgeries and it is uncertain if he will have sight restored to his eye.

Jay and Heather, along with their 4 kiddos, need our help.  They do not have a fantastic insurance policy that is going to help with these expenses.  Being self employed, the income will not being coming in as it usually would so that they can be spending as much time with their son as possible.  In addition, there will be a great deal of travel from Stockton to Madison.

Thank you for reading Aiden’s story.  If you are able, please send Jay and Heather some much needed funds.  Every penny counts.  Every prayer, good wish, energy, and love sent to the Hermes Family is appreciated.

As their are more details, this site will be updated.

6/11 Update-Aiden was released from the hospital on Saturday after the first surgery which discovered the missing lens and the torn retina.  While at home, he faces many challenges.  He is on very strict bed rest.   There is also a challenge of keeping any area around him clean, even for Heather.  Dirt and dust near his bandage is dangerous.

Today, 6/11, Aiden was seen by the Retina specialist.  It is now known that he will have surgery on July 1st to attempt to fix the retina and remove any foreign matter in the eye.  As of now, he still has no vision in his eye, but after all of the necessary surgeries, there is hope that he will be able to detect light, shapes, and possibly colors.  At this time, we know that there will be at least 3 more surgeries.

Through it all, Aiden continues to fight like a champion and have the most positive attitude.  He is a true example of a young gentleman-even through this; speaking wonderfully to all the nurses and doctors, introducing himself with a firm handshake, and checking on his family for their well-being.

Thank you all for your support, prayers, positive thoughts, and love.  It is felt!

Please watch the Hermes Popcorn Page for updates-events are being planned for Aiden in the near future!
