<div>Cancer doesn’t care how young you are, how healthy you’ve been, or how hard you fight. Angela—“Ang” to her people—is 42 years old, fiercely funny, sharp as hell, and in the fight of her life.
</div>
<div>She was only 40 when diagnosed in October 2022 with stage 3 colon cancer after months of being told she was “too young” and just needed “more fiber.” Spoiler: her fiber intake was just fine. Instead, she ended up in the ER with a ruptured colon, had emergency surgery, and began a grueling chemo regimen. By May 2023, after 6 months of battling through what she thought was hell—nausea, surgeries, side effects, and a colostomy—Ang was in remission. She even let herself dream about getting back to “normal” by the end of the summer.

<div>But cancer had other plans.
</div>
<div>In August 2023, just in time for Ang’s 41st birthday, routine scans revealed that the cancer was back. It had spread. Angela was now facing stage 4 colon cancer.

<div>Overall, it’s been a relentless rollercoaster:

<div>And through it all, Ang is still dropping “that’s what she said” jokes during treatment and fighting with a kind of stubborn hope only Ang could pull off.
</div>
<div>Angela is a wife to Mike—her rock, caregiver, and resident everything-doer—who’s been holding down two jobs while running the household. Their son Keaton is 15-almost-16, and watching his mom battle something no teenager should have to witness. Also in the mix is Chief, their loyal (and extremely spoiled) French bulldog who has become an emotional support beanbag with legs.

<div>Here’s the thing:

<div>The Powell family has never been the type to ask for help. For the last 2.5 years, they’ve quietly carried this weight while politely declining most offers of support—accepting only the occasional meal. But after this last hospitalization, the time for “we’re fine” has passed. The Powell family is finally ready to lean on the community that’s been waiting to show up for them.
