Herbal Justice Fundraiser

We're raising money for the 2023 Herbal Justice Fund! Help us reach our goal of $6000 for Giving Tuesday!

Railyard Apothecary has been offering the Herbal Justice Fund to our community since 2019. The fund provides herbs to BIPOC folks as a form of reparations and individuals who can’t afford herbal medicine. As a member of the fund, you can receive up to $50/month worth of bulk herbs and tinctures, discounts on consultations and free attendance to Railyard-sponsored classes.

In 2019 thanks to the generous support of our community we shared $700 worth of herbs and herbal consultations. Each year the need has grown and in 2022, we shared $500 each month ($6,000/year) with fund members, again with the support of people like you!

We pay for the fund by donating our tips the first week of the month, allocating a portion of retail zine & sanitizer sales, a few sustaining members and 2 fundraisers/per year. We will continue doing all this, but since the fund has grown, we need YOUR HELP to continue underwriting this program for 2023.

"It has been a super supportive privilege and gift to receive assistance from the herbal justice program from the Railyard Apothecary over the past few years. Each month I am able to order some of the herbs that I cannot grow in my gardens which help balance my adrenal and nervous systems. Since I began learning to recognize and work with plant medicine wisdom over the last two decades, my experience balancing service in society with living in the garden gradually becomes more integrated. While I still end up purchasing additional herbal supplies to make medicine from my gardens and wildlands, my healthcare budget would not easily stretch to pay for the tonic teas I receive through the herbal justice program each month. I aim to ease off this fund as soon as I can so that others who are on the waiting list can fill my spot. Of course, all forms of health care should be free and yet we are not there yet in our species' evolution. Just as I make offerings to the plants and listen to learn if, when and how much I can harvest, so too do I offer my deep gratitude to those who facilitate this fund, listening for how long I can continue to harvest this resource for the commons. I find it ironic and wondrous that Railyard Apothecary is located amidst the crux of an industrial zone where trains still carry fuel near a vast lake in need of healing below a city on unceded Abenak territory. It is medicine spaces like this that are portals of transformation which inspire, empower, and feed us to grow into healing centers amidst the complex intersections of where we find ourselves in the world.
