Help Me Fight Hemochromatosis: Medical Bills

This past November, I was diagnosed with Hemochromatosis. Hemochromatosis is an inherited condition that is characterized by excess iron in the blood. Without treatment, this leads to conditions such as cancer, poisoned organs, which in turn leads to organ failure, irregular heartbeat, and over all body pain and fatigue. I, unfortunately, will now battle this condition the rest of my life. I will now be required to have lengthy bloodlettings once a week until my iron content, which should be between 50-150, is lowered to a manageable, safe level. Once my levels are back to a safe range, a long term care plan will be discussed and I will have to be monitored regularly to prevent life threatening iron increases.

In addition to the huge logistical and financial burdens this will medically place on me, I have an extreme phobia of needles. For those who know me intimately, you already are aware that I have faced many medical and psychologically challenging circumstances in the past and currently. This however will be the largest fight of my life to date, and will be a fight that will transpire over the rest of my life.

I am already speaking with a therapist and plan to seek out more psychiatric treatment moving forward. Over the last few months, I have completely overhauled my diet in an effort to fight this desease the best I can. I am now completely vegetarian with a strict focus on removing high iron content foods from my diet (ie: red meat, pork, chicken, high iron fish and veggies) along with inflammation inducing foods (ie: excess sugars, dairy and alcohol- which leads to higher levels of iron absorption).

Unfortunately, my personal market place health insurance doesn't cover all the costs associated with treatment (as anyone who has dealt with insurance, well knows). And since treatment is preformed at a "hospital" and not a "clinic" I'm held responsible for treatment costs associated with my hospital bills until my deductible starts to kick in. A single visit to the hematologist specialist will be around $734 and I’m not sure how often I’ll need rechecks. I do not know an estimated cost for bloodletting. However, like I stated before, the service will be weekly until levels drop to a safe amount.

Moving forward , I will need to take time off  work from both my full-time and part-time job positions to accommodate appointments. I'm also needing to pay for anti-anxiety medications and skin numbing creams to try to help my phobia.

I am not usually a person who voices my need for help to others but, I need help this time. Anything that you can give is a blessing. I also ask for help by reposting this fundraiser as well.

From the very bottom of my heart: Thank you for the funds, for the reposts, and the prayers. I am so very grateful, so very honored, so very humble.

Blessings, love and peace.
Max

P.s. If help is easier to be sent through a cash app, I am willing and capable of doing that as well.  Thank you all again.
