URGENT HELP NEEDED
Willow is in rescue with Super Sighthound rescue.
Beautiful Willow has never been able to run like a normal whippet should.
Willow at 18months has never been able to enjoy zoomies pain free, He has not been able to run laps around the park, to spin in glee and race against his friends. We urgently need help to save this pups life.
Willow was taken to the vets as a puppy by his previous home, they refused vet treatment for a ruptured cruciate , despite the vets urging them to take action, he would've been in immense pain but even pain relief was turned down.
A cruciate ligament injury is an expensive surgery but his prognosis for a long, happy and normal life would've been good at that point. Instead, Willow was not given any rest or relief and as a result his injury has healed really, really badly!! - and surgery is difficult - not only his injured leg but his other leg, having compensated for his injury - with underdeveloped puppy bones and poor nutrition - he has developed arthritis in both as a result. When relinquished to SSR, his owners did not inform us that Willows ruptured cruciate had been left untreated.
We have been refused by so many vets unwilling to take instalments from our small charity - we have tried contacting larger rescues that may be able to afford his op straight away - but all have refused him.
Willows surgery will run up to £2000 at this point and we are struggling immensely. He is so precious to us and we want to give him every chance possible. Willow is such a sweet soul, a kind and submissive boy - always wanting to play with his foster siblings but unable to join in, instead moving out of their way and watching on.
This is surely no life for a beautiful young whippet, otherwise healthy, I can't imagine a worst fate for this wonderful breed.
Any donation however small will be immensely helpful and will go straight towards willows surgery, we need this surgery urgently !
Willow will have a long journey to recovery, but it will give him the chance of a life he deserves, and then we can focus on looking for his forever home.
