Help kids in Wetlands / Ubuntu

Hi friends, family, colleagues - Hi everybody with a humanitarian heart!

My name is Christina and I am starting this fundraising for my Wetlands kids in South Africa - a project which really is a matter of heart for me. I am absolutely in love with the adorable kids and they really really need our help!

At the moment we try to rebuild a créche and every Euro will help. So let me tell you a little about the project Ubuntu and the kids in Wetlands.

The Township
Township Masuphumelele ("Masi") is located close to Cape Town, South Africa, and the population has to face well known problems such as poverty, unemployment, drug and alcohol abuse and a high rate of HIV and AIDS. There are about 55 000 people living in Masiphumelele township.
Project Ubuntu
In November 2016 I was there to work as a volunteer for project Ubuntu, supporting crèches and kindergardens in the poorest area of the township.  The volunteer program aims to direct resources towards improving the lives of women and children in the community.

Who is "Ubuntu"? Candi, Sidney, Naymeka, Mama Charlotte -  alll of them incredible persons trying with all they have to run this project, making a difference in the lifes of "Masi" community. I cannot say how much I respect them, their work, dedication and their big heart.

If you want to find out more about Project Ubuntu just have a look on their Project Ubuntu Facebook page

All the ressources they have and receive go directly to where they are needed most. Some examples of this years "projects":
- Food to feed the Masi children – Lunch box project & food for lunch at Ubuntu center
- Planting fruit trees and organic garden for long term sustainability
- Building materials to help rebuild homes
- Rebuilding of the "Wetlands" crèche...

This brings me to my main reason for this fundraising.

Wetlands  is one of the poorest areas in the Township and this was "my" crèche....a very small and shabby shack.

This shack is the full-day place for around 35 kids (2-5 years old) to play, eat and sleep... The shack is destroyed, it does not withstand coldness and rain, there is no running water and the kids sleep on the dirty and run-down ground.

We now want to rebuild this structure and give the children a nicer place to be.
We cannot give food to all of them, we cannot give health to all of them - but we can try to make their lifes and childhood a bit nicer.

The kids are absolutely adorable and all they wish is somebody who cares. They have to live on the edge of absolute minium -  by improving their environment we can help to simply make their lifes a little happier!

Candi cooperates with a design academy in Hong Kong who also want to support Project Ubuntu.  The students created a very nice, smart and economic design for the Wetlands crèche, which we now want to realize as soon as possible as the continuation of the crèche has become almost unbearable.

Even considering the already existing funds we still need money to finance the materials, as we want to create a sustainable structure for the kids.

We are so grateful and thank you in advance for any contribution big or small!

If you are interested in how it goes with the Wetlands crèche and the kids just leave me your name and e-mail address.  I am glad to keep you updated!
