Help Wes Walk

My name is Bill. My wife and I are among many people touched by a very caring, superb fitness trainer named Kaz. She is amazing, especially with some of her older, disabled clients. All of us miss her dearly. Kaz worked at our facility for the last 2 years, leaving just a few months ago to start a new job near home, so she can spend more time w/ her daughter.

Kaz and her husband, Wes, are raising a beautiful 2 year-old daughter, Cora.

At the time Kaz left, her family contracted the stomach flu. As a result, Wes was admitted to the hospital April 14th after progressive symptoms including extremity weakness, loss of reflexes, numbness and the inability to walk. He was diagnosed w/ Guillain-Barre’ Syndrome , a devastating disorder where the body’s immune system attacks the nervous system.

Wes received treatment in Neuro ICU for 9 days. He started rehab on May 1st and will be discharged to go home on June 2nd. Although Wes has made significant progress, the road ahead is unknown. The recovery period will be lengthy, usually lasting 6-12 months, sometimes as long as 3 years. As of now, Wes cannot stand w/o assistance.

We are asking you to consider a donation to help Wes walk. Our goal is $25,000. All funds collected will go directly to Wes and Kaz to offset significant medical, living and rehab expenses. Once Wes is walking again he can progress to being back to his new job as a dietitian, where he is not yet eligible for short-term disability or FMLA. Wes only wants to regain his health, so he can go back to work, providing for his family again.
