*************** UPDATE   UPDATE    UPDATE  ************

On Friday October 9, 2015 I received THE CALL that I am a candidate for my lung transplant!!  I want to thank God for His grace and mercy and I want to thank all of you for your prayers and donations. With that being said, it just got real and I am now on my way to Pittsburgh.  I am asking for your continued prayers and support to help with relocation and living expenses while I am waiting for my transplant.  Any donation is welcomed and appreciated.  This is a journey that God has destined for my life and I am eternally grateful to each of you for your prayers and support.  I am happy and scared all at the same time, but I know that God is with me every step of the way.  Pittsburgh is a lovely city and although I have never lived anywhere other than Charlotte, NC, I am ready to embark upon this journey to allow me to live life!   For those who have contributed, thank you and I love you. For those who are contributing thank you and I love you. Please share my story with your family, relatives, friends, church members and coworkers.  I love you all and will cherish your kindness forever.  My story is as follows:

Wendy J. Brooks served as a hairstylist for more than  20 years. Those closest to Wendy would describe her as a warm hearted  person who has been a listening ear to her clients, her family, and friends. Wendy is always making someone smile, whether it's  her outgoing nature or her positive energy. As proud mother of her two children Bradford and Lauren , Wendy has always put her children first. Wendy was diagnosed with Scleroderma after the birth of her first child. Wendy has lived with the disease for more than 20 years rarely ever taking a sick day or complaining of her disease. She currently suffers from, Scleroderma, Pulmonary Hypertension, and  Congestive Heart Failure. The disease has caused severe scaring of her lungs, which has contributed to  Cystic Fibrosis. She recently had to stop working and began a 24 hour Life Sustaining IV Medication, in hopes to aid in her treatment. However due to her condition, Wendy's body has not reacted to the treatment as effectively as doctors would have hoped. Wendy must now undergo a lung transplant as soon as possible. Wendy only has a short time frame in which she must have this procedure done. The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is the only place in the nation that will take her as a Scleroderma patient in her current condition. Wendy will have to relocate to Pittsburgh with a family member as her caregiver 24/7 as she awaits an available organ. Wendy will require the same care after the surgery has been completed. Wendy is a  fighter, survivor and  through hard times she has maintained her high spirits and faith. Due to a recent medical set Wendy desprately and urgently needs assistance in raising all the funding that she can being that she will now require an immediate transfer to Pittsburgh once she recovers. Wendy is a fighter, a caring and loving mother and friend to many. We urgently and graciously ask for your support.
