<div>- <strong><em>THE LARGER STORY</em></strong>: Vyana Novus is a beloved local artist and single mother in Ojai, CA facing a life threatening condition.

<div><strong>In 2018, she nearly died from a septic blood infection 8 days after giving birth. In the ICU she was treated with a fluoroquinolone antibiotic (cipro falls under this class) which has 4 black box FDA warnings (the most serious warning type).</strong>

<div>For 8 years she quietly dealt with countless doctors, tests, &amp; procedures, while most people had no idea the severity of what she was living with. Vyana’s symptoms have been debilitating, including a host of neurological issues like severe full body neuropathy (nerve pain) and tremors, loss of mobility in her hands &amp; limbs, connective tissue issues, nutrient malabsorption creating major systemic deficiencies, histamine &amp; hormone processing issues, extreme sleep deprivation, the list goes on and on. It was only earlier this year that she finally understood these symptoms to be Fluoroquinolone Toxicity which causes mitochondrial cell damage.

<div><strong>In the last month her condition has rapidly deteriorated, getting severely worse by the day. She’s been unable to eat or drink (even water) for over a week now and is receiving in home IV treatments to avoid organ failure. </strong>Our beautiful Vyana—brilliant, funny, subversive, an amazing friend &amp; single parent, best dressed in town always stomping around in incredible platforms &amp; a smile—can barely move or function.

<div><strong>We’ve secured an emergency appointment with the leading fluoroquinolone toxicity specialist (who thankfully is nearby in LA) this coming Wednesday, 17 June 2026, but we need to meet our initial fundraising goal in order to begin treatment.</strong>

<div>Beyond the first goal for this emergency fund, all money raised will be used towards Vyana’s continued medical treatment, ongoing in-home care &amp; nursing, daily living expenses, and childcare so she can get back to raising her child, making art, and impacting our communities with her brilliant intelligence and creativity.

<div><strong>Regarding the situation, Vyana said, “I’ve never believed in the idea of being ‘self-made.’ We’re all community made. My life now rests on that belief being true, and I really hope it is.”</strong>
