Many of you will be aware of the flood that has hit Kashmir valley in the past few weeks. This is being termed as the worst disaster that has hit Jammu & Kashmir in a century. Many families including mine were caught uninformed of the building catastrophe. The state machinery is crippled under the blanket of this deluge. Hospital have been flooded, communication channels are broken. Kashmir valley was cut off from the rest of the world as the only road link NH1 did not escape the fury of this disaster.
The magnitude of devastation is huge and it will take months if not years for the situation to calm down. Srinagar the summer capital city of Jammu & Kashmir was a lake few days back with no visible boundary marking the land from the water. As an official estimate more than 200 people have been reported dead which include many infants who found no saviors when the nature’s fury hit the only children’s hospital in the heart of Srinagar.
I’m reaching out to you all with a hope, a hope that with your help we can together try to revive and rebuild Kashmir. There is an immediate need for essentials like food, medicines, drinking water, milk, baby essentials. Me along with few other people are trying our best to reach out to the victims and help them in any way we can by providing essentials. The biggest challenge that the people are going to face in the coming days will be to overcome epidemics and water borne diseases. I request all of you to kindly join me in this cause. Your contributions will be valuable for many on the ground. The need of the hour is definitely big but any small contributions from sponsoring a coffee to a doughnut will be helpful.
What will happen to the money you contribute?
All the money that you contribute will be used in buying essentials from New Delhi (India) and will be transported to Srinagar.
