The tragic events of March 27th led the Larsen Family to the loss of a much loved sister, daughter and young mother to a senseless act of domestic violence. As the perpetrator continued on his brutal spree, the victim's sister, Chelsea Larsen, and mother, Julianna Flowers, were critically injured as the altercation continued. Kym Larsen leaves behind a two month old son, and will be greatly missed as his sole comfort, and most dear caretaker. Her life was short, but touched many, and she will live on in those who loved her most.
The indelible mark that these devastating events will have on this family will last a lifetime, but as a community we can rally together to meet their immediate needs as they grieve.
Thankfully, homeowner's insurance will cover the cost of restoration of their newly bought, and much loved home, so the funds raised can go to the overall well being of the family. The immediate needs of the family include:
1. Lost wages for the family's sole provider as he takes time off to greive and care for their two small children, Chelsea, and her mother, Juli, (roughly $3000),
2. Ongoing medical expenses and therapies for Chelsea as she is uninsured (the amounts are unknown as we watch her progress through recovery but we are assured physical therapy and grief counseling are in this family's future),
3. Funeral expenses and arrangements for Kym that will amount to roughly $5,000-$7,000,
4. Ongoing expenses for Kym's two month old son, as the family takes on sole custody (roughly $5,000 for his first year of life).

My name is Soraya Mazloomi, and all you need to know about me is that I am a fixer, and after this tragedy, I wanted to know in what ways I could be useful to Chelsea and her family as they grieve. I have known Chelsea upwards of two years now, as a fellow doula, and I have always known her to be a selfless, community oriented person, who's greatest joy in life is her family, friends and helping those less fortunate than herself. Through all of this pain and loss, she has become more resolute in her mission to help those that are most vulnerable in our community, and work towards preventing this tragedy from happening to another family.
