Help care for the forgotten ones ….

This page is being made to help a handful of people in my home country, Romania, who decided to make a difference and help our homeless senior citizens.
Every penny that you donate will be sent to Dumbrava, Romania, so Viorel Pasca and his team can continue to care for all the residents from Dumbrava.
Everything started in the winter of 2006, when Viorel Pasca was watching TV and was shocked to hear that two more people died because of the cold. He felt compelled to do something….knowing he had 2 rooms in his own home that were not being used by his family, he decided to bring 4 or 5 homeless elders and offer them shelter and some food. He knew that financially it would be a struggle, but he also believed that God will make a way and He will provide the means to see this through.
Fast forward 11 years, and today he has 230 people in his care. Again, we are not talking about a nursing home or an assisted living facility. This is a permanent shelter for people whose families either passed away or lost touch, and in some cases their children forgot about them. People, who have no means to survive on their own, have no assets, no home, and no access to any other type of care. These are people who thought they would die in the street.
They receive new “patients” every single week. These are people who come from all walks of life and have all kinds of medical problems (cancer in different stages, amputees, frostbite , dementia, Alzheimer’s , and other unforgiving illnesses).
This shelter was created to help those in need and to give “the forgotten ones” a chance to a better life for however many days they each have left. They don’t have luxurious conditions, but the idea is to give them a clean and warm place where they are looked after. …..It definitely is better than being in the street in freezing temperatures.
The residents are there for life, unless a loved one comes to get them, but sadly that never happens.
The daily expenses are high and they run on donations only. Keeping the lights on, adequate food, heat, water, medicine ….all these cost money….
While we are far away and we can’t physically lend a helping hand, will you please join me in this effort to gather enough funds to help this beautiful ministry go forward?
Just to give you an idea, it costs around 600.00 lei (Romanian currency) or 152.00 dollars per month to take care of one individual and there are 230 elders who are being looked after at Dumbrava.
