Meet the Chastain Family: Andy, Cari, Ryder and Rigg.
Five years into battling a cancerous tumor in Andy's brain, his treatment stopped working and on June 12th, 2014, the tough decision was made to stop treatment.
Andy had one wish: to see the Rockies one last time. That wish was the original purpose of this GoFundMe page.
Your generosity was INCREDIBLE and within 24 hours the funding they needed for the trip was secured. Every person who donated here helped Andy's wish come true.
The request was then expanded beyond the trip. The Chastain family was faced with a multitude of emotional and financial challenges in the upcoming months.
Since the original request and the successful trip to the Rockies, there have been plenty of emotional and financial challenges.
Andy entered hospice care less than a month after the trip. He was sleeping 20+ hours a day and did not stay awake long. When he was awake, he was in good spirits and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Cari had been put to the test as both her grandmother and father fell ill.
In September, Cari was involved in an accident and her car was totaled.
Yes, totaled. I know, I gasped too.
Yet, throughout their struggle, there have been a multitude of blessed moments and an awesome, unwavering faith in God.

At the same time, Andy continued the battle, his family at his side.
On Tuesday, December 30th, Andy "Captain" Chastain completed his fight and went to Jesus. He has been reunited with his heavenly family, including his daughter Caden.
