Hello all!
I am Ezra Miller's Language Arts teacher, and I have started this campaign in his name to help raise money for his family.
Ezra has leukemia and will need a bone marrow transplant. He is also currently struggling with an infection, which can be dangerous for patients in his position with a severely compromised immune system.
I had only seen Ezra in class for 2-3 days at the beginning of the semester. Once he was diagnosed, the principal at STEM School and Academy approached me to ask if I would be willing to help be a homebound teacher for him. Of course, I said yes, and then I began traveling to Children's Hospital on Sundays to update him on assignments and work with him on the content he was missing. It was through this experience that I actually got to know Ezra since I hadn't taught him last year. Currently, they are trying to figure out a more permanent arrangement for his school situation, but I still visit and text him about our mutual favorite show, The Walking Dead.
His family is under a great deal of stress. He has two sisters who are still trying to maintain a sense of normalcy while also supporting their brother during this trying time. Also, Ezra's dad just recently lost his job, and his mom, Cynthia, has frequently been up at the hospital with him.
Any amount that you can donate will go directly to the family and assist them through this ordeal. Extra funding can take away some of their stress as they continue to support Ezra through his treatment.
