Sanford Hardware & Sians Recover from Dam Failures

Donation protected
The Sian Family has been devastated by the recent disaster in Sanford, MI when two dams broke, flooding the entire town. Kathy and Denny Sian are fixtures in the community. They are well-known for their generosity and involvement in both the Sanford and Clare communities, where they own Do It Best Hardware Stores.

It's truly a family affair as their sons Adam and Denny, as well as their daughter, Christine, all help to run the stores. The flooding has ravaged the Sanford hardware store. It's a total loss. To be clear, we're talking about 20 years of hard work and the livelihoods of four Sian families. The decimation of the store has rippling effects on the entire family as they’ve dedicated their lives to building and maintaining their local business. As you may well imagine, when you’ve devoted your life to being an entrepreneur, there isn’t much separation between business and personal. When the business suffers, the owners and their families suffer and we want to soften that blow for this kind, hard-working family.

As just one example of how this business cares and chooses to give back, as the coronavirus pandemic was spreading throughout Michigan Sanford Hardware held a very successful donation drive that provided thousands of dollars to the local food bank. This is a business with true heart and a valuable asset to the community.

Like many area businesses, Sanford Hardware’s damage is most likely not going to be covered by insurance and that’s where you come in. We need your help to rebuild what’s been lost, both for the families and the business, and to provide the Sian’s with a clear path to the bright future they deserve. Any funds that you can spare will be utilized to help the Sian’s rebuild their homes and their hardware store so that they can get back to supporting their village. We know that this is a hard time for most Americans and all donations, no matter the size, will be greatly appreciated. Denny was interviewed by 9&10 News. You can read about it here.
