Support for TRIA’s Medical Fund

Donation protected
Mikaella Beatrix "Tria" Tolentino, 8 years old, eldest daughter of a missionary couple Onnel and Maia Tolentino had been diagnosed with a rare illness that hits in 1 out of 100, 000 known as GBS (Guillain-Barre Syndrome or GBS )  and has been in the ICU ever since.
GBS is an autoimmune illness that deteriorates body functions from an ascending pattern (from legs upward) paralyzing the body gradually.

Tria is from Manila, Philippines. In the Philippines insurance only covers a small portion of medical expenses, and money must be paid upfront and out of pocket before hospitals and some of them will only begin medical care upon deposit. Tria’s case requires several tests and at least 2 to 3 weeks stay in the ICU depending on her reaction from medication. Friends and family have pulled together to pay $5000, together with some of the money the parents had stored away for education, to help off set the cost of her medical bills, but the bills continue to accrue, and when the bill gets too high the hospital cuts off needed medication for the patient.

Her ongoing medicine and hospital bills cost over $2000 every 2 days she remains in the ICU. The family does NOT know where they will get this money. Tria’s medication for the next 5 days will be closely monitored for observation. However if the bills do not continue to be paid his medical care is in jeopardy. The needed amount is estimated to reach $30 000.00 hospital bills, medication, rehabilitation and after care.

Tria and the family is set to be sent on mission supposedly this April to Africa. Tria is a source of joy not only to her immediate family but to kids her age and people in the community. Her sociability and happy disposition makes her very adorable.

Everyone is doing what they can to chip in, but resources can be depleted easily in the Philippines, and the situation could become desperate. The family now needs the support they would so often be the one to give generously.

Please do what you can to help this family. Prayer is most important, but financial support is a very real need, and if you can please share this post so those who can help might see it. Onnel and Maia are very good missionaries with much love surrounding their family. Please join us in supporting them as they often and without fail support all of us.

We can not thank you enough for your prayers and support. Our family is overwhelmed by the show of love. Thank you and may God bless you,

- Tolentino Family (Onnel, Maia, Tria and Robi)
