Please Help Save Nick's Home!
Nick Boardman, the genial doorman who greets patrons at the Elks Lodge on Cedar Avenue in Pittsburgh, needs your help. Due to a long period of unexpected medical problems and subsequent unemployment, Nick fell behind on his mortgage payments and is now facing the loss of the home he has shared with his family and three cats for seven happy years. This action is imminent; the scheduled foreclosure date is April 6, 2015 (the day after Easter Sunday). We are reaching out to family and friends to try to raise $40,000 in a very short period of time, so that his family can stay in their North Side Home.
Nick met his wife Lynette while working in the North Side Community Garden, and they have lived in the North Side for 14 years. The residents of the North Side know them as the type of people who are always willing to pitch in and lend a hand to help out any good cause. That sense of civic resonsibility was passed on to their 10-year old daughter Nicolette (wearing a hat like her Daddy's, above), who enjoys participating in community events with her parents. Those of you who don't know Nick as a friend but are patrons of the Elks Lodge know him as a kind individual who is always ready to offer a big smile and a heartfelt "Good to see you again!" when you walk in the door to hear the Pittsburgh Banjo Club, The Jazz Conspiracy, or any other event at the Elks. No matter if you are a family member, good friend, or complete stranger, Nick will go well out of his way to make sure that you are comfortable and happy. Would you consider making a donation to this campaign, to return the favor to him? This campaign was set up by someone who's not so much into social media, which makes things difficult because that's the best way to get the word out to people. If you use social media, I would really appreciate it if you could help us by making up for where I'm deficient and getting the word out to all of your Facebook friends who may know Nick. You can also come to the Elks any Wednesday night and talk to me personally - I'm the redhead who sits in the front row of the band, and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have about this campaign. The band takes a break around 9:30, or I can also talk to you after we finish rehearsing at 11:00.
GoFundMe will allow us to give Nick direct access to the proceeds of this campaign, so he will benefit from your contribution as soon as you make it. We hope that we are able to reach our goal of $40,000 by April 5th so that Nick and his family can stay in their home.
