Help Save Cantoalavida Sanctuary

WHO AND WHAT IS CANTOALAVIDA:
Directly translated as “A song for life”, Cantoalavida Sanctuary is a non-government non-profit sanctuary devoted to protecting the health and welfare of animals in Campoalegre, Colombia. Their foundation is based on rescuing, providing medical and maintenance care and ensuring all cats and dogs find a safe new home where they can start anew and feel love once again.

GLORIA
Gloria Ramirez, the founder of Cantoalavida is the driving force and strength of the sanctuary and has dedicated her life to building awareness and consciousness towards those in most need. Globally, many animals are viewed and treated as mere objects and their feelings completely disregarded, luckily Gloria is one of many individuals who deeply values respect and equality for all sentient beings. 8 years ago at the age of 63 she courageously devoted her entire time and efforts to help those who need it the most and continues to do so till this day, this being one of the many esteemed traits she possesses.

Show Gloria some love!

WHY YOUR HELP IS IMPORTANT
Gloria at 71 years young depends on volunteers to help the up keeping of the foundation and assist her in the daily tasks, which I can say from my experience is highly demanding, physically labored and overall strenuous. As you can imagine for a person of her age running the sanctuary without volunteers is highly tiring however she continually works without a day’s rest and perseveres with her passion. This hard labored work is time consuming and disallows Gloria any time for herself let alone marketing for the charity in which she comically admits that the internet is “way past her time”.

Although the charity has been running for 8 years, they’ve been struggling financially and the past year has been a struggle. Recently the ability to provide medical care and food has decreased substantially and their demands have outweighed their supplies, the cause of this is due to a vast amount of debt generated in the past year as a result of a lack of donations in which the foundation solidly depends on. Unfortunately this will sadly lead to the closure of Cantoalavida if no further action is taken.

Furthermore, the adoption rate has decreased which puts the lives of 49 dogs and 113 cats at risk should the current situation continue to evolve. Abandoned and abused animals are being left on a weekly basis which makes the challenge they are facing even harder.

Help is urgently needed.

HOW WILL THE FUNDS HELP
The funds I and the volunteers are hoping to raise will:

- Dissolve all debt.

- Purchase urgently needed medication and veterinary fees for animals in critical conditions.

- Pay for outstanding and future animal sterilizations.

- Construction of much needed quarantine area for abandoned animals with contagious illnesses.

-  Help maintain veterinary fees.

The list is long however, with the funds we would like to raise the sanctuary will have the chance to continue on and solidify a foundation for the future.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our campaign, any amount of donation is gratefully received and entirely appreciated. Your help is vital!

SOME OF CANTOALAVIDA HABITANTS
All furry friends have a story to tell and a personality to go with it, it is without saying that visiting the sanctuary will definitely show you the reality and cruelty that still goes on.

MILU:
Milu was continually sexually abused by her previous owner, she has come a long way from when she was first rescued and is now slowly but surely recovering from her trauma.

KIARA:
Kiara lived most of her life tied up to a fence and excessively used for breeding. As a result of all the abuse she endured she now has genital cancer, this however doesn’t stop her loving and caring ways and still plays like a puppy!

NOE:
This lover of avocado stops at nothing till he gets a bite! He was abandoned at the sanctuary when he was a few days old and made a miraculous recovery, he has now become a firm member of the family. Noe is without a doubt the first one to sit at the dinner table!

CACHITO:
Cachito was left out on the streets for being a little different, her quirky personality and eyes has given her the title of most loveable! Unfortunately years spent on the streets gave her many illnesses, Sarcoptic mange being one in which she continually suffers from, this however still doesn't stop her crazy ways!
