ABOUT JARDIN SAN GABRIEL
Yanapaq Maki Kuna, which means "Helping Hands" in Quechua, was founded in August 2005, by Mario Diaz Ugarte and Rosa Gutierrez, who both live in Cuzco´s San Sebastian neighborhood. Helping Hands Cusco works to improve the living standards of that community. Here's how: by giving official and complete education to children ages 3, 4 and 5 at its charity school.
San Gabriel Kindergarten, an ecological school, is a place of development for children who are left out of the mainstream esucation system. All come from poor families and often live in small quarters. None of them have traditional family dynamics. Many live with only one parent, a grand parent, or just siblings. Some suffer from diseases but cannot be treated for lack of sufficient financial means while others are victims of physical and psychological abuse perpetuated by an alcoholic family member.

Yanapaq Maki Kuna (Helping Hands) est une association caritative fondée en août 2005 par Mario Diaz Ugarte et Rosa Gutierrez. Elle a pour but d´améliorer les conditions de vie des habitants de San Sébastian, Cuzco. Entre autres, ils ont ouvert une école maternelle, Jardin San Gabriel, qui accueille des enfants de 3, 4 et 5 ans du quartier.
Ces enfants sont tous issus de familles pauvres et beaucoup cumulent des problèmes de santé, de maltraitance psychologique et physique et de malnutrition. Ceci les empêche d´accéder au système scolaire public péruvien. Le Jardin San Gabriel leur permet d´avoir les mêmes opportunités que les autres enfants de leur âge tout en leur offrant une structure adaptée à leurs besoins.
