The story
This page has been created to support our great friend Ricardo Reul in a time of need in his life. Born in Mexico, raised in Peru, he came to the Netherlands to study in the University of Groningen. In January, 2013. Half way through his studies of International Business, serious family matters made it impossible for his family to support him anymore. He was supposed to quit his studies and leave, but he didn’t. He made the decision to stay in the Netherlands by himself and finish his education. Ever since then, he’s been on his own, scraping by whatever money he can get to pay his tuition fees and be able to stay in the country.
Although Ricardo is constantly looking for a job, he remains unemployed due to the fact that he’s a non-European immigrant. He is also unable to receive study grants from the government. He contacted the University for help, but they didn’t offer any. This lead to him selling all his belongings and leaving his room to move in with a good friend to cut expenses . After one and a half years, he is still fighting and has been able to pass his courses and pay for University.
Unfortunately, he is running out of options and time. Friends that have been helping him pay each installment cannot do it anymore. He cannot ask his family for help either. Being so far away from home and so close to graduating, he is trapped and the options have come down to this message.
Ricardo has inspired most of us that really know him, because no matter how difficult things seem to be, he has never thought about giving up. He has always been confident that one way or another he will get through this situation. His dream and motivation is to have his younger sister get through University with the same opportunities he’s got. Despite the difficulty of circumstances, he always has a smile on his face and he usually sets time apart when someone needs a favor. It’s because of all these reasons and seeing him in need of a huge favor himself that we feel we should help him out.
Currently, Ricardo is on his last year of education. To complete his education, he is obligated to pay a total of €7500 (ca. $9338) for his entire senior year (2014-2015).
As soon as we discovered crowdfunding and how it has helped numerous people in similar situations, we were ecstatic about the possibility of actually raising the necessary funds and saw this as a solution to all his problems.
At this point, we’re reaching as many people as possible to raise the money together. Every single euro/dollar will go directly to his tuition fees. We see every donation as one step closer to his graduation. Feel free to contact him and talk to him on facebook or somehow else if you have any questions.

Deze pagina is gemaakt om onze goede vriend Ricardo Reul te steunen in een tijd van nood in zijn leven. Geboren in Mexico, opgegroeid in Peru, kwam hij naar Nederland om te studeren aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. In Januari 2013, halverwege zijn studie International Business, hebben ernstige familieomstandigheden het onmogelijk gemaakt voor zijn familie om hem te steunen. Hij hoorde zijn studie op te geven en te vertrekken, maar dat deed hij niet. Hij besloot om zelf in Nederland te blijven en zijn opleiding af te maken. Sindsdien rekende hij op zichzelf om elk stukje geld dat hij dan ook tegenkwam bij elkaar te schrapen, zodat hij zijn collegegeld kan betalen en in Nederland kan blijven.
Hoewel Ricardo telkens op zoek naar een baan is, blijft hij werkloos omdat hij een niet-Europees immigrant is. Hij is ook niet in staat om studiefinanciering te ontvangen. Hij nam contact op met zijn universiteit, maar ze hebben hem geen hulp aangeboden. Dit leidde tot het verkopen van al zijn toebehoren en het intrekken bij een goede vriend om kosten te besparen. Anderhalf jaar later is hij nog steeds aan het strijden en is hij in staat geweest om te slagen bij al zijn vakken en zijn collegegeld te betalen.
Jammer genoeg raken zijn tijd en opties op. Vrienden die hem eerder geholpen hebben met het betalen van zijn termijnen kunnen het niet meer doen. Hij kan zijn familie ook niet meer om hulp vragen. Gezien hij zo ver weg van huis en zo dichtbij het afstuderen is, hebben zijn opties zich naar dit bericht geleid.
Ricardo heeft de meeste van ons die hem goed kennen geïnspireerd, want hoe moeilijk dan ook dingen blijken te zijn, heeft hij nooit over opgeven gedacht. Hij is er altijd van overtuigd geweest dat hij op een of andere manier door deze situatie heen kan komen. Zijn droom en motivatie is om zijn zusje naar de universiteit te krijgen met dezelfde kansen die hij heeft. Ondanks de moeilijke situatie, heeft hij een constante glimlach op zijn gezicht en zet hij regelmatig tijd aan de kant als iemand een gunst nodig heeft. Het is vanwege al deze redenen en het zien dat hij zelf een gunst nodig heeft, dat wij het gevoel hebben dat we hem dienen te helpen.
Op dit moment is Ricardo het laatste jaar van zijn studie aan het afmaken. Om zijn onderwijs te voltooien, is hij verplicht om een totaal van €7500 (ca. $9338) te betalen voor zijn hele afstudeerjaar (2014-2015).
Toen we crowdfunding hebben ontdekt en hoe het talloze mensen in vergelijkbare situaties heeft geholpen, werden we verrukt over de mogelijkheid om werkelijk de benodigde middelen in te zamelen en zagen we dit als een oplossing voor al zijn problemen.
Langs deze weg zijn we zoveel mogelijk mensen aan het bereiken om samen het geld in te zamelen. Elke euro/dollar gaat direct naar zijn collegegeld. We zien elke donatie als een stap dichterbij zijn afstuderen. Aarzel niet om met hem contact op te nemen en met hem te praten indien u vragen heeft.
