Help Remember Miya

Donation protected

Today my brother lost his truest companion, Miya. I know to some of you, she was just a dog but to my brother and I, she was part of the family; she had her own personality and attitude, her love was fierce and unconditional, she was full of life.

Chris noticed Miya's ears were red and warm Monday night and she was limping a little, he decided he would take her to the vet in the morning. On the way into the vet she collapsed and couldn't control her legs, she needed to go to the speciality hospital. He drove her there and they took her in to do tests, last night they determined she had an autoimmune disease called immune mediated thrombocytopenia. Miya's body was attacking itself and her platelet count was extremely low. With a normal straight forward case the recovery rate would be 90% with treatment, Miya's case was not straight forward. They started treating her with medication therapy including a chemotherapy shot, steroids, and antibiotics, all part of the normal process in which the doctors would recommend. Miya had a incident that was concerning and lead doctors to believe she had bleeding in her brain. We left Miya last night with high hopes she would respond to the medicine, unfortunately last night she started having seizures and ultimately her body failed her. In a fast whirlwind of events my brother's baby is gone and a puppy angel in Heaven but it has left us with extreme holes in our hearts and no words to share.

I create this fund as a request from the bottom of my heart. This has all come with a large financial burden, as Chris wanted to do everything we could to help her because she was a member of our family.  But unfortunately pet insurance will not help.  At this point I ask for yours. If you knew Miya and/or know my brother you know the bond they had and the hole he has in his heart; together we can help ease his burden. Your thoughts and prayers would also be greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
