Help Mark & Margo Rebuild Paradise

Donation protected
Hi everyone! I have just heard the first news from my dear friends and bosses Margo and Mark from the mountainous forests of Western Puerto Rico after the devastating Hurricane Maria made landfall over a week ago. It was a satellite phone call from a neighboring town and it was very brief and the reception was very poor. For years, they have been renting out three properties on the island (check out the link below for details) in both the mountains of Las Marias and the beach front town of Anasco, with the help of volunteer workers like myself. After this catastrophic hurricane, the only info I have at this time is this: The beach house's foundation need serious work done after the storm hit. This is their prime rental through AirBnB, and they may not be able to get it up and running again until January or February at the earliest.  The 32 acre property in the mountains is inaccessible due to four major landslides. It will take a bulldozer to make this road accessible again by any outside traffic. Another part of the only road there was actually taken by a landslide and there is now a gaping ravine cutting them off from civilization. Their own house seems to have been spared the brunt of the storm, but the jungle eco cabin they have been renting for years had some significant damage to its wooden deck, which will need to be completely replaced. It is impossible to walk two feet in any direction without crawling over or under a tree at this point. There is no electricity, and won't be for months. They are currently working day-to-day with a gas generator. The only way to get to town is to hike through multiple landslides and hitch hike a ride. And even then, there is still no cell service. In order to attempt to find internet access, they have to drive to neighboring towns and find open businesses (of which there are few) that are offering wi-fi from their buildings. This is their ONLY source of income, and they have lived there for over 20 years. They want to stay and rebuild, but it's going to be a long, hard road to do so. They are still without electricity, are running on generator power but will be running out of gas to do so very soon if the situation stays as dire as it is in PR.  They need money to start to rebuild this paradise they have shared with the island, with the help of volunteer workers like myself; it will be a long and hard journey, but we all have confidence that this can happen if we have some outside help for you! I will update with current pictures as soon as I can. Mark and Margo's Rental Website (Pre-Maria)
