<div>My name is Israa Saad. I’m a mother of three beautiful children—Anwar (8), Ahmad (6), and Rahaf (3). I’m also a refugee from Gaza, currently living in St. Louis, Missouri, with a generous host family who has taken us in during the most difficult time of our lives.

<div>In December 2024, I arrived in the U.S. with my youngest daughter, Rahaf, who is now three years old. She is a double amputee—both of her legs were lost when our home in Gaza was bombed. We came here through the support of PCRF (Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund) so that Rahaf could receive the care and rehabilitation she needs to learn how to walk again.

<div>I came alone. I had to make the impossible decision to leave behind my husband and two sons, Anwar and Ahmad, in Gaza, so that Rahaf could get the life-saving treatment she needs. Every day, I carry the weight of being separated from them, and every day, I dream of the moment we can be reunited.
