Help Paul Leix Fight Stage 5 Kidney Failure
Donation protected
Last week, Paul Leix got the news that no one wants to hear: "You've reached stage 5 kidney failure. You need a kidney in the next couple of months or you will need dialysis." WOW.
For the last 5 years, Paul has been battling kidney failure. In fact, not too long ago, he was told that he had two years to find a kidney donor, but after recently battling COVID, things have spiraled downhill. Thus far, doctors are still searching for a reason why, but are assuming that while his body was healthy enough to fight COVID, his kidneys were in such poor condition that the virus attacked them to the extent that they cannot repair themselves. More tests and more time will hopefully provide some answers.
Paul will need a kidney transplant within the the next couple of months to avoid dialysis. The best option for him is to get a live door - otherwise, the donor list has a 7 year wait before he is even considered. The average life expectancy of someone on dialysis is 5-10 years on average.
The last thing Paul and his loved ones want to think of is him not being there for his 14 year-old-son that looks up to him so much. Not being around to see him graduate school, get married, have kids. Or, not being able to walk down the aisle with his fiancée. It breaks our hearts.
So, what's next? WE HELP PAUL! He's a dear friend of the Broken Barrel family and even $5 will support his medical and living expenses while he is unable to work during this devastating time.
You can also help spread the word. Paul will need a kidney transplant the the next couple of months to avoid dialysis. The best option for him is to get a live door - otherwise, the donor list has a 7 year wait before he is even considered. He is O+.
