Fresh Start For Our Zim Girls.

We are raising funds to get young Zimbabwean girls out of situations where they are being sexually exploited. We want to help grassroots organisations who are working in Zimbabwe to give them a fresh start to life . This will be acheived by getting them into safety, back into education and by empowering them with life skills. Counselling and Psychotherapy for the girls.

My name is Rumbidzai Bvunzawbaya . I am a Solicitor in England and Wales and a Trustee of Tugwi Trust.

I am also the founder of Migrant Family Support a UK based Charity.

WHY ?

On 6 September 2017 we heard an interview on a radio programme in Zimbabwe called Panenyaya. The audio message was of a 9 year old girl telling her story of how she has had to resort to prostitution in order to feed herself and her five year old sister.

The story was just the tip of the iceberg . There are close to 200 girls  involved in the sex trade in the Hopley and Epworth areas on the outskirts of Harare, Zimbabwe .

WHAT WILL THE FUNDS BE USED FOR ?

The funds raised will be used for the following.
 
Food - Pachoto ( by the fire )  Club cooks food for the girls on a daily basis  and the money will enable the continued provision of one meal a day for the girls.

Housing - The girls need placement in appropriate , safe and secure accommodation. Some need to be relocated out of the area for their safety and to enable them to start afresh.

Education - The girls need to be placed in schools and provided with school fees , uniforms , transport and food.

Skills Training - For the older girls there will be a need for skills training to empower them to be able to earn a living .

Health and well being -  The girls will require .Sanitary Pads and Toiletries . Some require medication for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
The girls have been affected mentally , emotionally and psychologically . They require counselling and rehabilitation.

The funds will give young girls  new hope and a chance to live a normal life. It will give them an opportunity to lead a fulfilling life and empower them to reach their full potential in life.

HOW WILL FUNDS BE ADMINISTERED?

The funds will be administered by Tugwi Trust which works to provide a platform where Zimbabwean children can excel. www.tugwi.com 

The activities will be implemented in partnership with organisations on the ground  operating in the affected area such as  Katswe Sisterhood and a consortium of Charities from across the world who will provide practical assistance and expertise in rehabilitation and restoration.

An external audit will be carried out to ensure transparency  and accountability.
